We are looking for a Perl programmer to create innovative new web-based tools by extracting and analysing data from the internet. You will help maintain and develop the perl backends for our large-scale consumer websites.
This is not a simple receive spec, estimate and write job. We don't want you to just go away with a spec and reproduce it. This is real R&D, so we are looking for programmers who want to be part of a team, experimenting and sharing ideas and approaches within the company. We want someone who wants to learn on from others in the company as well as teach, to help grow the knowledge all round.
Required
- Advanced Perl - particularly in data processing
- Experience with web-based agents (bots)
- Experience with CPAN
- MySQL experience
- Experience in installing executable software within a linux environment calling them from within Perl code
- Some understanding of statistics
- Web experience
- Good communication skills
- Pragmatic approach
Any experience you have in search engines, bots, natural language processing, data mining, stats or PHP will be put to good use.
This is a full time position.
